¡Hola, hola!

Hi, I’m Sarah

If you’re into creative storage solutions, small space design, IKEA hacks, or just wondering how a family of five thrives in a space most people outgrow, you’re in the right place. I’m Sarah, and this is where I share all things small space living, family life in the city, and how we make it work in our 750 square foot NYC apartment.

I am a full-time stay-at-home mom, side hustle queen, and pre/postnatal yoga teacher offering NYC rooftop classes and online programming. When I’m not chasing after our three kids or co-hosting the Still Christian Podcast, you can find me baking a loaf of sourdough or churning a new batch of ice cream in our kitchen.

My journey to small space living is a bit unexpected. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania with my own bedroom, a basement, and tons of grass to play Grand Champions in (I loved it!). Fast forward to now, and I’m sharing a bathroom with my entire family and fitting three kids into one room. A bit of a culture shift!

When it comes to bringing our home ideas to life, my husband Peterson is the real MVP. He works in customer success, dabbles in real estate investing, and has picked up an impressive set of home improvement skills from my dad and countless YouTube videos. Together, we’re the perfect team – I dream up the small space design projects, and Peterson brings them to life!

Our blog posts range from detailed how-to guides for your next DIY project to thoughtful discussions on the philosophy behind our choices (like why we love our high chair and how it fits into our family togetherness ethos). You’ll find product comparisons, room makeovers, and plenty of small space design inspiration for making your home work for you.

why Spanish?

You might notice a bit of Spanish sprinkled throughout our blog (here’s looking at you, title of the blog itself). That’s because we’re a bilingual family! Peterson’s native language is Spanish (born Haitian, raised Dominican), and we speak Spanish at home with our 3 kids. We also live in Washington Heights in upper Manhattan, which is home to the largest population of Dominican people outside of the Dominican Republic. Spanish is a beautiful part of our family culture that we love to share with our readers.

Why I started this small space design Blog

Our home is more than just four walls – it’s a labor of love, a testament to creativity, and the heart of our family life. I know firsthand the challenges of feeling like you’re outgrowing your space, especially as your family expands. But I’m here to show you that with a little ingenuity and a lot of love, it’s possible to create a home that grows with you, no matter its size.

Our goal is to inspire and empower you to see the potential in your small space. Whether you’re a city dweller making the most of a studio apartment or a family of five in a two-bedroom home, I’m here to share ideas, offer solutions, and cheer you on every step of the way.
